Discover the PRO-YAN Glass Stone ready to use.
The term "YAN" originated in Chinese literature, referring to the ancient hand-carved ink stones that were used to rub the ink stick in water to obtain liquid Chinese ink. For centuries, China has been renowned for making the best ink stones. Gradually, the term has evolved to mean a "high quality soft stone".
PRO-YAN corundum stones are manufactured using a new environmentally friendly room temperature consolidation process. Corundum, a finer and softer material than traditional ceramic stones, allows the knife to glide easily over the surface. In addition, the abrasive concentration is higher, which speeds up the sharpening process.
With the PRO-YAN Glass Stone, you save time and improve efficiency: it does not need to be immersed in water, saving you up to a quarter of an hour, and resharpening takes only 5 minutes, a time reduction of 80%!
Please note that the sharpening time claims are based on the specific characteristics of this stone and may vary according to individual experience and technique.
The glass plate has many advantages. It is attached to a tempered glass support and prevents the stone from deforming. The disadvantages of the porosity of ceramic stones, where the grains can fall off more quickly depending on their quality, are a distant memory. Furthermore, with the glass plate, you can use the stone until the end, until you can see through the glass. Even when the abrasive becomes very fine, similar to paper, the stone continues to work effectively.
