Kasumi Damas Kasumi Damas

Pioneer in the world of Damascus steel kitchen knives and in the use of VG10 steel, Kasumi has established itself from the very beginning as a benchmark for high-end Japanese cutlery.

Its “Standard” Damascus steel stands out for the elegance of its blade, harmoniously paired with a round handle made of Japanese cherry wood, featuring a full tang. All of this is crafted with the attention to detail that is the brand’s hallmark.

This distinctive line appeals as much for its performance as for its aesthetics. It embodies traditional craftsmanship and visual codes inherited from its own history, as Kasumi is today the oldest family-owned cutlery manufacturer in Seki, Japan.

Kasumi Masterpiece Kasumi Masterpiece

Driven by a constant pursuit of excellence, Kasumi has created, with its Masterpiece range, true masterpieces of Japanese cutlery. The jewel in the crown of its collections, this exceptional series is handcrafted in Seki by highly skilled cutlery artisans, custodians of a craft passed down from father to son through the generations.

The blade features a damask pattern of concentric circles, the creation of which is highly complex. It is complemented by a Micarta handle, combined with a carefully crafted full tang, forming a whole in which elegance, balance and functionality are seamlessly united.

Designed without compromise to achieve a superior level of performance, these blades undergo a double polishing process, followed by double sharpening on a whetstone, just like swords. This meticulous finish gives them exceptional cutting quality, great precision and excellent durability.

Kasumi HM Kasumi HM

Capitalizing on its expertise in high-carbon VG10 steel, Kasumi’s HM range offers knives in which performance and elegance are precisely balanced. The blade is distinguished by its refined hammered finish, inspired by the brand’s family heritage. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, this high-frequency mechanical hammering process also helps to reduce food sticking to the blade, ensuring a smoother and more comfortable cutting experience.

Built around a VG10 steel core, the blade features a three-layer Damascus construction, revealing a hamon along the edge. This pattern evokes the traditional techniques once used in the manufacture of Japanese swords, whose lines were already a testament to the blacksmith’s mastery.

The knife is completed by an ergonomic resin handle, fitted with a rear stop for a secure and natural grip. Its design offers excellent comfort of use, even during prolonged food preparation.

Kasumi VG10Pro Kasumi VG10Pro

As a pioneer of VG10 steel, Kasumi presents a range featuring a single grade of the high-carbon steel it has made popular. Forged from a single core, each blade boasts a sharp edge along its entire length.

Its handle, made of artificial marble - far more complex to produce than traditional marble - is crafted in a design that required many years of research to achieve the most comfortable grip, in keeping with the material’s smoothness and extreme lightness.

Its contemporary visual identity blends seamlessly with the traditional aesthetic codes of the Kasumi heritage, Seki’s oldest family-owned cutlery firm.

Kasumi Rainbow Kasumi Rainbow

A new feat in forged steel, Kasumi unveils the first copper- and gold-coloured Damascus steel, the result of a collaboration between the Japanese company – one of the pioneers of Damascus steel in kitchen knives – and master blacksmith Takeshi Saji.

Forged and shaped entirely by hand by a single craftsman, these blades combine several metal alloys with highly carburised steel to create a coloured Damascus steel of rare uniqueness.

Each blade thus reveals its own unique pattern, making every knife a truly one-of-a-kind piece. Produced in extremely limited quantities, this collection is a testament to exceptional craftsmanship, where mastery of the fire, precision of movement and the beauty of the material come together as one.

Kasumi & Masahiro

The KASUMI brand owes its reputation to the launch, in the late 1990s, of multi-layered Damascus stainless steel kitchen knives, for which it is the global pioneer. These knives feature a blade made from extremely robust alloy steel with an unrivalled edge; KASUMI will forever remain the Original, having made this ancient art accessible to all. …a driving force ever since.

The innovative KASUMI embodies a refined aesthetic, in keeping with a family artistic heritage spanning over a century. It takes the art of Japanese Damascus knives to its pinnacle. As the only manufacturer to polish its knives to within three decimal places, its exceptionally sharp blades are still crafted using the traditional methods employed in the manufacture of samurai swords. As traditional in appearance as they are modern in construction - always at the forefront of the latest technological advances - KASUMI knives are a fine example of Japanese expertise in the art of sharpness.

MASAHIRO, the brand cherished by specialists in cutting fish and raw meat, is every bit as popular. The two partners, whose great-great-grandparents were already collaborating in their quest for the ultimate edge, complement each other in a dual cutting experience that multiplies the pleasure.
The more lateral pressure a knife exerts on the food being cut, the greater the strain on the chef’s wrist. MASAHIRO has taken this into account by ensuring the knife offers as little resistance as possible during cutting. ‘Ama-giré’ - the gentle cut - means a knife should separate the fibres rather than crush them.
