Japanese knife Nakiri Haiku Ryoma Sakamoto

Haiku Ryoma Sakamoto is a range of black forged Japanese knives made of highly carburized 0.8% carbon steel. Made in the island of Tosa, Japan the birthplace of the famous samurai of the same name.

This short range offers excellent quality for an entry level black forged blade compared to more carburized blades like those in the Haiku Kurouchi range, top of the range of black forged knives. The knives are made in the traditional way on the blades to the end of the untreated light wood handle.

The Japanese Nakiri knife is the traditional forme of the Japanese vegetable knife. It is exclusively intended for cutting this type of food. Its sharp V-edge blade allows it to be more efficient and easier to use than other equally rectangular shapes such as the Japanese Usuba knife which will be beveled right-handed. The rectangular shape of the Nakiri knife allows it to have an excellent front-back balance allowing greater flexibility in gestures when cutting.

Each blade is carefully crafted by experienced knifemakers, who imbue each knife with their expertise, resulting in a strong sense of identity. Please note that the blades are sensitive to oxidation.
