Japanese knife Funayuki Haiku Ryoma Sakamoto

Haiku Ryoma Sakamoto is a range of black forged Japanese knives made of highly carburized 0.8% carbon steel. Made in the island of Tosa, Japan the birthplace of the famous samurai of the same name.

This short range offers excellent quality for an entry level black forged blade compared to more carburized blades like those in the Haiku Kurouchi range, top of the range of black forged knives. The knives are made in the traditional way on the blades to the end of the untreated light wood handle.

The blade of Japanese Funayuki knives is a traditional Japanese shape that is very versatile on meat and fish. Its shape takes certain rounded features of the Japanese Deba knife (which is a knife for cutting fish) by adding tha main characteritics of a utility knife which is multi-disciplinary. It is an effective blade for small and medium jobs.

Each blade is carefully crafted by experienced knifemakers, who imbue each knife with their expertise, resulting in a strong sense of identity. Please note that the blades are sensitive to oxidation.
