Kasumi has reinvented the bread knife with alternating serrations that are both sharp and gentle, capable of slicing without crushing the crust. Suitable for all types of bread, including sandwich bread, it features extremely sharp yet shallow serrations. The alternation of two short, pointed teeth with a wider, deeper tooth allows for an efficient cut while minimizing wear. Each tooth applies its own cutting force to enhance precision and comfort of use. Unlike serrated edges with too many teeth, which require more pressure and movement, this design naturally optimizes the cutting edge. Designed for both bread and roasts, the Kasane easily finds its place in kitchens and on the finest dining tables.

Kasumi is one of the pioneers of Damascus steel kitchen knives. Based in Seki, Japan -the historic capital of Japanese cutlery- the company has relied for several generations on the expertise of Japan’s finest artisans. Today, Kasumi is the oldest cutlery manufacturer in Seki still run by the founding family. Through its creations, the brand carries on a precious legacy that blends craftsmanship, innovation, and Japanese aesthetics. Kasumi knives are instantly recognizable for their numerous Japanese design elements, harmoniously combining tradition and modernity. The company has always operated in the world of high-end cutlery and is also renowned for its avant-garde artistic approach.
Always attentive to trends and developments in Japanese design, Kasumi dedicates the Kasane line to its female artisans-a rarity in the world of Japanese cutlery. The name “Kasane” is inspired by the layered fabrics and color harmonies worn during traditional Japanese celebrations. This collection offers a softer, more elegant aesthetic in contrast to the bolder character of the Kasumi Damas, Masterpiece, Kuro, and HM series, which are inspired by samurai blades. With its light hues, handle crafted from wild cherry wood from the Seki Mountains, and clean lines, Kasane exudes a refined and contemporary aesthetic.
The knives’ contours were designed by Misa Kuromoto of Tokyo University of the Arts, lending the collection a truly artistic flair. The concave handle ensures an instinctive, secure, and exceptionally comfortable grip, enhanced by the warm, smooth feel of cherry wood. The result is a Japanese knife that is elegant, ergonomic, and incredibly lightweight.
