A truly versatile knife, the utility knife is suitable for all types of food. Ideal for preparing both meat and vegetables, it offers excellent maneuverability and is very comfortable to use.

Kasumi Rainbow is a true feat of technology and craftsmanship, featuring its distinctive colored Damascus steel. “Kasumi” means “morning mist over the mountains” in Japanese-a name traditionally associated with the brand’s Damascus blades. With this unique Damascus steel, the inspiration is more reminiscent of an iridescent sky at the end of the day after the rain. A spectacular creation born from a complex alchemy of materials that are among the most difficult to work with. Each knife is entirely handcrafted, with extreme precision achieved by eye and to the nearest degree.

For the Kasumi Rainbow line, Kasumi has partnered with master blacksmith Takeshi Saji, based in Echizen, Japan, on the country’s west coast. Together, they have created a Japanese knife with a unique and particularly innovative design. Takeshi Saji’s expertise is recognized worldwide, particularly for his exceptional work with colored Damascus steel using high-carbon steels. The Kasumi Rainbow collection is crafted using traditional Echizen methods, perpetuating an ancient Japanese craft.

Creating colored Damascus steel is far more complex than making traditional Damascus steel with alternating even and odd layers. It requires combining three different types of metal-steel, copper, and brass-whose melting points vary significantly. This technique involves numerous additional steps and a considerable amount of production time. This is why Kasumi Rainbow knives are produced in very small quantities -only a few dozen per year- and are entirely handcrafted by master craftsman Takeshi Saji.
